As my homilist observed this morning, "Who can know about God unless he chooses to let us know?" The book of Job puts it this way, as the Lord says:
"Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?" (Job 38:2)
It has been revealed to us, this Catholic Faith, as says the creed of Saint Athanasius.
"And the Catholic Faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the Substance."
This is the God "who is there" (F. Schaeffer), not the god or gods or even nothingness that we might suppose, or "project." We do not have a choice in the matter. And this God has come out of obscurity to reveal Himself in three Persons.
